I don't understand the meaning of "month ticket"

in this case, how much does the first person have to pay to
go to place 4?

if somebody has a "month ticket", he DOES NOT PAY AT ALL to get anywhere. it works like an internet connection -- you may pay for the time/traffic, or you may buy a "flat" account for the fixed price.
