Why memory limit is changed?

In many tasks memory limit is changed to 16 Mb. What is aim of this innovation?
Java programming language is going to be available from the 1-st of June (+)

Java programs need more memory than Pascal and C++ ones - more than 1 Mb. for A+B Problem. More over, used memory may vary within rather wide range because of Java compiler peculiarities. I think that 4 Mb. is just enough, but Vladimir Yakovlev wants to play safe. That is why 16 Mb. memory limit was applied to almost all problems.

Thanx for the quick answer. There is great that soon we can write on JAVA, but memory limit for another languages is not a limit any more :)
